[All_CAVBA] Upcoming volleyball Events

Hello All,
   I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about some upcoming volleyball events in the area. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. 

1) The UALR women's varsity volleyball team has their first home game at the Jack Stephens Center on Friday October 2nd at 7pm. They also have a home game on Saturday October 3rd at 5pm. Other home games are scheduled for 10/16, 10/17, 10/18, 11/6, 11/13, & 11/14. Please come and support these ladies as they try to win the Sun Belt Conference title!

2) This Saturday (October 3rd) there will be a charity grass volleyball tournament in Memphis (Bangin' on the River: VB for JB). Several teams from this area will be attending & you should seriously consider helping raise money for a great volleyball family in need. Posted at the bottom of this email are the details.

3) The CAVBA will be holding a luck of the draw tournament in Jacksonville this Saturday (October 3rd). This is being held in conjunction with the Wing Ding festival and is always a good time! The details are at the bottom of this page.

4) Midsouthdigs.com will be holding their outdoor championships in Memphis on Saturday October 10th. Check out the tournament info at:

5) The AR State Outdoor Volleyball Championships will be held at Murray Park in Little Rock on October 17th and 18. Lunch and drinks will be provided for all participants. Additionally, door prizes will be given out to several lucky participants. We will have women's, juniors', men's, and coed divisions. Winners of all power (upper) divisions will receive cash prizes and merchandise; winners in comepetitive (lower) divisions will receive Sweet Sets, Wilson, & AVP merchandise. Please register as soon as you decide to play; it will help us plan food and prizes for the event. Please register early, because it is possible that this event will fill up. Bangin' on the River:

I don't know how many have heard, but my 24 yr old little brother is in a pretty bad situation in the ICU at St. Francis. I am going to throw a Grass Volleyball Tournament on SATURDAY OCT. 3rd as a fundraiser. The tourney is being held at the Greenbelt Park at Harbortown on Mud Island. Right on the Mighty Mississippi. The VB for JB format will be: 
Men's 3's open
Men's 3's A
Women's 3's
Coed 4's B (min.1 girl on court)
Recreational 4's: can be all girls or boys or combo (rules will be very loose ((almost non-existent)) , fun for everyone!) 
Suggested $20 donation per person for a fun filled day in the sun. 
Bring camp chairs, EZ ups, coolers etc. Anybody can play in the rec. division. Come out, have fun, help Jonny B!

CAVBA Wing Ding Tournament:

The Central Arkansas Volleyball Association is happy to announce the Wing Ding Festival Volleyball Tournament will be Saturday October 3rd, 2009 !!!

Format: 3/4's or 5/6's depending on the number of entrants
Fee: $10.00 per player
Location: Dupree Park in Jacksonville, AR
Time: Sign-up 8:30 Team Draw/Assignment 9:00

This is a "Luck of the Draw" tournament with matches governed by USAV rules.
Participants should expect to be involved in highly competitive matches.
Registration begins at 8:30 AM and names will be drawn at 9:00 AM.

"Wing Ding" T-shirts will be awarded to 1st & 2nd place teams.

One hour lunch break will give us time to check out the festival. For $5.00 you can get two chicken wings from each of the five booths competing in the chicken wing cook off contest. After trying the different chicken wings, you write your vote for favorite choice and drop in the ballot box. The wings are good and it's fun too. There will be plenty of other food venders too.
