[All_CAVBA] The CAVBA needs your help this weekend!

The CAVBA needs your help this Saturday (4/10/10). We are going to try and have a "work day" at Murray Park to improve and maintain our playing surface. Here is what we are planning on doing and what we need help with:

1) Aerating the field(s): We will be renting a powered aerator (sort of like a large push lawn mower) and running it over the fields. This will help the grass grow better and give us a better field. We have a lot of field to cover and it would be nice if we had several people taking turns running the machine.

2) Repairing the faulty water line in the middle of the field: If you were here last year, you probably remember the "swamp" that we had in the middle of the field caused by a faulty sprinkler/water line. We are planning on digging this up and repairing it. We need people who are able to dig a hole and anyone with plumbing expertise (everyone can dig a hole!).

3) Level out low spots: The field is no longer as level as we would like it to be. We have requested a truckload of dirt from the city so we can fill in the low spots. We will need people to move the dirt around and do the actualy leveling. Garry is bringing his lawn tractor and trailer to help move the dirt around, but we need people to help with the labor.

4) Inspect and inventory the CAVBA "stuff" in the green bin: We want to get an accurate count of how many nets, poles, stakes, lines, etc. that we have and their condition so that we can be ready for the summer season. This will take a couple of people a little while to just take things out of the bin, assess it, and write down what is in there.

5) Anything else that might come up: Any ideas about what else needs to be done to improve the park?

PLEASE come out and help. We plan on starting at about 9:30am. The Board of Directors has volunteered a ton of time and energy to keep things running smoothly, but we need the help of the general membership. This is a member run organization and we all need to do our part. Please help the CAVBA provide a quality experience for all of us.
